Does ‘Tapping The Source’ Really Work?
Ever since conceiving of and writing the book Tapping The Source, and developing a set of Focus Phrases to empower Charles Haanel’s unique philosophy of manifestation, the sober question has arisen in my mind over and over: does this actually work?
- I am at heart a scientist, a research psychologist doing most of my research within my own consciousness. I have done a thousand interior trial runs – test studies to see if the seven Focus Phrases of The Master Process actually deliver results. If not, as a scientist, I must discard the process.
As always, my own finances continue to move up and down in great swings, rather than stabilizing at the top of financial success and security. And just now, several business involvements at once have not brought in the expected cash, and so it would perhaps appear that I am not able, as the writer of Tapping The Source, to manifest even my own heaps of monetary fortune. What’s up – doesn’t this all work?
To my understanding and experience, the seven Focus Phrases do work at remarkable deeper levels, bringing me not what my nervous ego mind might want to cling to, but manifesting for 65 full years now, a most remarkable life where every moment has been an opportunity to learn, to share love, to discover what life is all about – and to enjoy the pure rush of life.

WHAT DO WE REALLY WANT IN LIFE?
Where people too often ‘go wrong’ with the Master Process Focus Phrases is in understanding the fourth Focus PHrase. Indeed, I myself as the author am only beginning to fully understand it. Because these Focus Phrases ‘came to me’ from a higher integrated interior process, I’m contiually discovering deeper dimensions …
“I know what I want.”
This is the fourth Focus Phrase of the TTS manifestation process. And like most people, I often think that what I want is to finally attain some sense of permanent financial security. Working as an independent writer all my life, and usually allowing Spirit to guide my career choices rather than money, I haven’t amassed a load of assets, I don’t have a retirement pension plan – because none of that type of ‘money in the bank’ future security has been what I wanted most.
But I am now approaching retirement age … shouldn’t I be worrying about the future?
- Ever since I agreed to write Tapping The Source, I’ve thought that perhaps it’s time to get what I think I want financially, which would be peace of mind about my retirement future. But in meditation, something much deeper keeps coming to me when I reach this fourth Focus Phrase.
Deep-down, what my soul hungers for
is not future material security.
I hunger for full engagement
in the eternal present moment -
right here and now!
Sure, my ego’s occasional fear-based future projections want heaps of money in the bank. But I am not really motivated ever, to put money first. I guess I’m just too much an artist personality. I much prefer to continue to respond spontaneously to the present moment rather than plotting and planning and making money most important in my life. After all, I’ve always brought in enough money to live a good life in the present moment …
Here’s what I find I really want, when I say to myself, “I know what I want.” I want to go deeper and deeper into living spontaneously in the eternal moment. I want to fully let go of my ego’s anxious future projections, so that I can truly experience inner peace and clarity right here, right now.
Inner peace is what I want -
a minimum of anxiety and stress
and a maximum of cooperation and resonance.
And indeed – I usually have it! That’s the joke, isn’t it? We possess inner peace right now, if only we can quiet our ego’s nervous plottings and plannings, and live fully in the here and now.

ATTAINING INNER PEACE
The sixth Focus Phrase of The Master Process is “My vision is right now perfect and complete,” and the final seventh Focus Phrase is “Each new moment is manifesting my dream.” Right here, right now, my dream and vision of living in peace in my heart and soul … is manifest!
Always the driving question is -
how to live continually within
this quality of consciousness
where we manifest inner peace …
Over and over, Jesus said: “Peace unto you!” or “Go in peace,” or simply, “Peace…” That’s what he brought to the world. He pointed our attention toward inner love and peace. But I had to explore the pragmatic methodology of Buddhism and cognitive mind-management in order to find effective mental tools for actually attaining inner peace.
- Tapping The Source offers a touch of the process for attaining inner peace. But only when I finished writing Expand This Moment did I finally bring into printed format the full meditative Focus Phrase process that enables me, each new day, to shift into inner peace.
When I ask myself what I want, I know deepdown that I want to be teaching the Expand This Moment process of 12 meditative Focus Phrases to whoever wants to learn them. That’s why we’re moving from Kauai to San Francisco next month – see you there!
For now, here’s the 4-minute meditation video that guides you through the full 12 Focus Phrases taught in Expand This Moment … this is a quiet-jazz version. We’ll be posting other versions with other types of background music soon, if jazz is not your mode … what’s important is moving through this meditation process in your mind and heart, two or more times a day … this video offers effortless guidance in doing this, until you memorize the 12 Focus Phrases and make them your own …
